Senator Chris Murphy

This morning at 11:21 in Washington Senator Chris Murphy (D. Connecticut) started a filibuster in the Senate in favor of gun legislation.  Thirty five other senators joined him, including one Republican.  It is now, as I type, 11:30 PM in Washington and the filibuster is still going strong.  To my knowledge, this is the first filibuster that favors legislation, rather than opposing legislation.

Senator Chris Murphy

Chris Murphy, a man of the Nation
We’re with you on gun regulation
…While you filibuster
…The Senate to muster
The votes that would pass legislation

You may wonder how Hillary became so unpopular in the views of so many people, especially checking her actual phenomenal record of accomplishments.  The following article by Michael Arnovitz is “the most thorough, profound and moving defense of Hillary Clinton I have ever seen”.  I picked it up on The Daily Kos:     Michael Arnovitz

Unpopularity

Although Hillary’s margin is gaining
While Trumpledee’s numbers are waning
…Her unpopularity
…With some regularity
Over fifty percent is remaining

  1. Regarding the time stamp of a comment. This is done internally by the blog underlying software. My guess is that the time stamp may be at the time of approval. In any case, so far it is not important. I will check with the blog host about the screw up of the Email and about time stamping.

  2. Regarding Michael Arnovitz’s article: Did you intend to quote the Kos headline in your intro to it? [Consider putting it in quotation marks, if so.]
Now that I’ve read the article, here’s my actual reply (start with the next line, if you decide to post it):

Michael Arnovitz’s article is definitely remarkable and worth reading. I could not help, in reading it, thinking about the nearly polar contrast with Trump – some of which is discussed in the article. Most remarkable is how his approval seems to go UP when he does something “manly” expressing power and confidence, albeit disingenuous and obviously lying.

    1. 1. The link at the blog site is correct and works. The internal mechanics of the blog software screwed up the Email copy of the post. In such situations it is best to log onto the blog. The link is at the bottom of the post.
      2. I did intend to quote the Kos headlines. My quotation marks were accidentally left out of the Email version of the post. They are in the blog version.

      Thanks, Ken, for your comments
