On again, off again, gone again Prigozhin
Yevgeniy’s rebellion against Russia’s army
Armor unhindered advancing toward Moscow
With Putin loud calling Yevgeniy a traitor
While Yev viewed himself as a true liberator
But things changed: a sudden ‘bout face there somehow
A Belarus brokered temp truce: Putin, Yevgeniy
With Prigozhin exiled likely to Minsk
The Wagner Group, Prigozhin’s army of convicts
With true seasoned soldiers spearheading the battles
Against the Ukraine,
Will now become part of the army of Russia
At least that’s the news broadcast over the media
Hinting that Putin’s near end of his reign
Appearing much weaker than we might depict
I find this reporting quite hard to believe
Too inconsistent, too simple, too fast
Too many questions with answers unknown
Months, perhaps years for the facts to be known
But the now situation is one that can’t last
And what happens next is quite hard to conceive

Trump Arrested and Arraigned
Our former President today arrested and arraigned
Miami Federal District Court conducted the proceedings
The plaintiff pled “not guilty”; his demeanor stiff and strained
I’m sure he saw the likelihood his freedom, thus, receding
A sorry day, historic day, a day where law prevailed
Including former presidents, to all the law applies
Released on his recognizance, no anklet and no bail
To be presumed as innocent ‘till proven otherwise
Judge Cannon will preside, although herself she should recuse
Strong biases she demonstrated early in this case
Her rulings were reversed for clearly favoring Trump’s views
Trump had appointed her as judge, ‘though she was MAGA based
Let’s just conjecture for the moment, that Trump’s not convicted
Largely due to her decisions: evidence permitted
And Trump becomes our President; a sorry sight depicted
An opening occurs on Court Supreme; she’d be submitted
I’m neither prophet nor one’s son, but this I do expect
Judge Cannon won’t recuse herself but bias all her moves
To favor Trump but not so much as show law disrespect
To try to stay legitimate so not to be removed
With all the legal goings on Trump will be in the news
It matters not the reason, trumping other candidates
He’ll soak up all the oxygen, no place for other’s views
A shoe-in for the nomination; history will be made

Trump Indicted, June 8, 2023
I’m sure you’ve heard that Trump, today, was issued an indictment
It was for thirty seven counts of Donald’s misbehavior
Illegally retaining SECRET documents he favored
The venue was In Florida creating much excitement
Jack Smith, the Special Counsel, not politically appointed,
Investigated, gathered facts, convincing the Grand Jury
Of Trump’s bad deeds; of course the news ignited Donald’s fury
And those of us who track the news have not been disappointed
Most disconcerting, I would say, the Speaker in response
Claimed this was done politically to keep Trump out of office –
The G.O.P. is so screwed up they’re ready for the hospice –
They’ll likely vote Trump candidate and come to his defense
Fast forward to the ninth, the whole indictment was released
And Jack Smith stated briefly that no one’s above the law
I read all pages, forty nine, and here is what I saw
The case against Don Trump was overwhelming, my belief
I did what Jack Smith asked of me as well as all of you
To read the whole indictment, easy reading like a book
The evidence were Trump’s own words, and that was all it took
To make Jack’s case and so I say that you should read it too

Not Much More To Say
I do applaud the President; his strategy worked all the way
To Kevin saving Keven’s face by giving him a victory
To claim. That he forced Biden to negotiate
To raise the ceiling on the debt. It seemed illusory
But all along ‘twas Biden’s plan
To make it look like Kevin won
That way he saved most funding for
His legislative tour-de-force
What now will occupy the news, what dramas play?
The growing list of Donald challengers
All hoping Trump’s indictments make their day
But they will fall away while Trump will surge
A thrice indicated candidate we can expect
Will be the one Republicans will choose
And try to plot a course where Trump can’t lose
So Donald Trump will be next President
Aside from that and shootings every day
And floods and fires as climate-changes sway
And banning books and threats against the gays
Aside from that, there’s not much more to say

My Guess
The Party Republican, think of its fate
There’s no one of stature who’s got guts to run
And win in the primaries as candidate
For President – really there’s no one but one
That’s twice impeached Trump, now indicted for crimes
Convictions quite likely if Garland won’t fold
No Rep. will oppose him though losing last time
He’s captured his Party and sucked out its soul
So what does that say ‘bout today’s G.O.P.
That this is the best candidate they can field ?
What happened to statesmen where they used to be?
They’ve all fled their party whose fate they have sealed
My guess, come November of two-oh-two-four
That Trump will lose handily but will not cede
He’ll try hard to change it by lies and by force
But it will all fizzle; ‘twill end all such deeds

A Senate Republican, that’s what I am
The years that I’ve been here I’ve voted with Mitch
I’ve never liked Trump; he’s a President scam
But we’re I to say so, I’d find myself ditched
I like being Senator, perks there are many
We meet in committees but have little clout
We do what Trump signals, few changes, if any
We fear Trump’s disfavor; it leaves little doubt
Like you I’m appalled when mass shootings occur
I offer my prayers but the problem is guns
Like AR-15s, truly weapons of war
But in my situation not much can be done
I’m afraid of the MAGAs and fear NRA
They’ll make sure I’m defeated on Primary day
Unless I succumb, always voting their way
But I want to stay Senator; what can I say?
Most Senate Republicans feel just like me
They are profiles in cowardice – one priority
To stay put in office whatever might be
They are G.O.P. ‘s silent majority

Hey, it’s not the gun’s fault the trigger was pulled
Or the fact that the bullets killed kids at that school
The culprit’s the shooter, why blame it on guns?
It’s a bad people problem when all’s said and done
The fact that the gun was a weapon of war –
Matters not what the weapon was really meant for
Could have been a bazooka – destroy the whole school
But selling bazookas, now that might be cruel
So tell me the difference; both are for war fighting
To own a bazooka would be quite exciting
You could be the first to own one in your crowd
Really build self esteem; make you feel strong and proud
Over three-fifty million guns in people’s homes
One sixty mass shootings just this year alone
Eleven thousand five hundred this year thus have died
All ages all places – there’s no place to hide
So tell me: sans AR-15s and the like
How many school children might still be alive?
And what were their lives worth; what value you’d say?
The price of an AR-15 on eBay

If you’re eighteen and black
And you value your life
I’ve a bit of advice
Ways to cover your back
These are things to do not
So as not to be shot
Don’t go knocking on doors
Don’t go chasing a ball
Don’t drive cars that have flaws
Don’t look rich; don’t look poor
Don’t infract any laws
Don’t in church spend much time
Don’t in banks nor in shops
Don’t go jogging in parks
Don’t by day or when dark
Don’t give cause to the cops
Don’t cause 911 calls
Don’t resist cop arrests
Don’t complain nor protest
Don’t try running away
It might be your last day
Fearful anxieties
Plague our society
When blacks are the ones
Then, the answer is guns
Guns-2
Guns-2
Meritless hate mixed with meritless fear
A mindset that’s deadly when one adds a gun
Be you black, brown or Jewish there’s one thing that’s clear
Prejudice is traditional, father to son
You’re sub-human, you’re stupid, you’re arrogant, gross
But I’m a white Christian; I’m better than you
I know that you hate me; I can’t let you close
You’d do unto me what we’ve done unto you
Prejudice, an emotion that’s part of our being
We look down on others to pump up ourselves
But when it is central to our self esteem
It justifies actions extreme in themselves
A third of our people are diehard believers
That coloreds and Jews are the bane of the nation
Conspiracy falsehoods toward them as receivers
Keep them in a state of extreme agitation
That, plus gun purchases readily filled
And laws so permissive in how they are used
The answer to grievance or fear is to kill
The Second Amendment is thusly abused
Hate, fear and prejudice have been around
From time immemorial; they transform but stay
But gun fads are recent; can be voted down
We must be persistent, there’s no other way

Ralph Yarl, a black boy, was shot in the head
By a man, eighty four.
He was scared; what he said
Shot him through the glass window of his secured door
Then shot him again after he’d fallen down
His defense: “Stand your ground”
In Phoenix, today, a young man with a gun
Killed some three randomly
On a wild shooting spree
Hard to say what he felt
Lots of bullets he sprayed ‘till deciding he’s done
To his life, said goodbye; turned the gun on himself
Cable news, there we witness our people in Congress
Who proudly display
On their jacket lapels bold assault-rifle pins
It’s the fad of the day
So what are they saying, when all’s said and done?
How to stop these mass killings is selling more guns
These vignettes, although different, have one commonality
We’re deep in gun culture
It’s now our reality
Thus manifesting and future-wise worsening
I’ve more on this topic that I’d like to say
But that will take place on some near-future day
