Grand Jury

Three and twenty citizens comprise a jury, grand
They’ve been empowered by Mueller in his probe of Russia’s hand
In meddling in our elections on the Trump’s behalf
They can subpoena Trump and every member of his staff

When testifying to grand juries, you are by yourself
You’re under oath to tell the truth, no lawyers there to help
And if you by intention lie, you’ll likely end in jail
For Trump ‘twould be a travesty, a test he’d likely fail

Trump’s lying is pathology, he cannot help this bent
The fifth amendment he could take avoiding questions meant
To show his culpability, collusion and much more
But Trump hates being seen as weak. He’d lie as has before

So if there’s something serious Trump’s hiding all along
Some something that’s indictable with consequences strong
His lawyers won’t suggest he risk his family or himself
And tell him best to abdicate, go off with all his wealth

Mike Pence would then be President, a true Republican
It would surprise me not at all if his staff had begun
To source the leaks so damaging to Trump, as President
Which sets the stage for ousting current White House residents

Trump and Putin

Trump signed the bill that rendered sanctions law
Sanctions levied heavily on Russia and Iran
And also North Korea, punishing them ‘cause we can
All focus was on Trump and Putin, what the world saw

Putin showed displeasure by expelling diplomats
Some seven hundred fifty five, the most they’ve ever done
Putin ordered well before Trump’s signing had begun
He aimed his ire at Congress sparing Trump his total wrath

‘Twas Trump’s initial signing of a major legislation
Signed in near seclusion so Vlad Putin wouldn’t see
We’re it any other bill there’d be a celebration
But this, Trump signed against his will in sheer ignominy

Observers all around the world interpret Trump as week
His Party has defied him first on health-care, now on this
John Kelly may some order bring to staff and to Trump’s tweets
But Putin’s hold on Trump is real; we don’t know what it is

May, 2011

I’ve harbored these past months a misconception
About Don Trump’s unusual obsession
With legislating ACA repeal
Not caring what replaced it in the deal
“I’m waiting at my desk with pen in hand.”
He’d even sign it if Repeal was blank

I had assumed the pundits were correct
Trump’s motivation was to have a WIN
But Mitch McConnell really did him in
And those three senators’ decision to defect

Trump didn’t get his WIN, alas, alack
But rather than move on to tax reform
Or infrastructure bills the Dems would back
He’s urging Mitch to buck the rising storm
Against repeal; to vote this one more time
Repeal Obamacare Care, Trump’s goal sublime

Trump does experience bouts of incoherence
His short-term recollections often fail
But one thing Trump remembers is a grievance
He nurtures hurts for years beyond the pale

It dawned on me that, though Trump savors WINs
His reason for demanding Mitch begin
Another voting session on repeal
It was to hurt Obama. He would kill
Obama’s cherished legacy, Obama Care
As retribution for humiliation
Suffered back in twenty-eleven May
Obama to roasted Trump,
The Corespondent’s Dinner, he’d repay

The Charge

To Tennyson apologies
John Kelly tweaked my memories
Of marching into certain death
As chief of staff at Trump’s request
Now his is not to reason why
Yes his is but to do or bye

To Trump a General officer
Is trained to answer, Sir, Yes Sir!
No matter what he sees to do
His loyalty comes shining through
Protect the boss; don’t let him fail
And even if you’ll end in jail

Good luck, John Kelly, there’re no rules
For managing Trump’s ship of fools
And better yet no regs replete
On how to handle Donald’s tweets
Trump’s current staff lacks loyalty
That’s why there are so many leaks

The Press is to the right of Trump
The Press is to the left of Trump
And Mueller’s closing in on Trump
It makes me wonder

Now that you’ve really just begun
You are a Donald’s favored one
But when your useful time is done
He’ll throw you under

Mistake?

I have Republican family and friends
Like most of us they can’t admit a mistake
Nobody thinks himself so gullible
That he’d vote for someone so un-truth-able
They knew he was foul but they thought not a fake
And Trump wasn’t Clinton who’d lost it with them

We’ve had half a year of Trump, how think they now?
World leadership role losing since the election
No real legislation enacted for us
Just EOs Trump’s signed with all flurry and fuss
Repealing gov regs meant for public protection
So what’s their opinion; is there room for doubt?

They’re mostly still with him, it’s what he will do
He’ll cut back their taxes and get them great jobs
Just give him some time, it’s been only six months
With lots of distractions like fake news witch hunts
Except for Jeff Sessions, those insults don’t lob
He is one of us; he was right to recuse

So the answer is no, no mistake had they made
When voting for Trump to become President
It’s you liberal progressives who got it all wrong
And can’t really stand it when Trump comes on strong
And the stock market’s with him, the highest it’ been
He’ll again make us great; leave you Dems in the shade

Reflections

Time for reflection, a week to remember
Most likely the worst week for Trump since November

Aside from his loss of Repeal and Replace
His presidency he has truly disgraced
He chose Scaramucci for Communications
Political gadfly for Trump’s recreation
He fired Reince Priebus as his Chief of Staff
Replaced by Gen. Kelly, political naïf

He tweeted that transgender soldiers must leave
But Generals won’t act, they’ve not orders received
Most of Trump’s tweets were berating Jeff Sessions
Who has pushed Trump’s agenda with singular passion
Trump’s trying to shame Sessions so he’d resign
But Jeff is not biting; he likes his job fine

Trump’s goal in all this is to get rid of Mueller
Before he uncovers unlawful endeavors
Involving the Russians that Trump has been hiding
Obstructing of justice is worth Trump abiding
If Trump is successful and Mueller gets fired
The Senate will thwart him and Mueller they’ll hire
To head up a new independent commission
With powers to finish its Trump probing mission

Six months it has been since Trump swore his allegiance
Among nations our standing is losing it dominance
The Presidency has become un-respected
Our allies concerned lest they be unprotected
Trump’s governance characterized as being chaotic
Our Congress impotent, our leader despotic
These were the goals of the Russian regime
Who meddled, succeeding beyond Putin’s dream

Thanks

You can contact senators to thank them if you wish on their web sites.
These can be reached as: LastName.Senate.gov . Some senators won’t
accept Emails from out-of-state. Please also note Ken’s comment on the
BLOG site.

Thanks

As you all know by now Skinny Bill got thumbs down
We can thank three staunch Senators siding with Dems
Murkowski, Alaska, Sue Collins of Maine
And from Arizona the maverick, McCain
They heard you, the people, Democracy’s stem
Who rallied to protest in cities and towns

Your numbers, persistence, your Capital sit-ins
Your young, your disabled, your old and your strong
United in action to bury these health bills
Sham legislation ‘gainst millions who will
Have lost their insurance, all hope would be gone
But this time you’ve won and I toast you your winning

McConnell’s the one whom I’m critical of
Who has let his Republican senators down
In eight or more years of his warped leadership
He has strongly encouraged gross partisanship
And foisted this bill to a vote up or down
But this one he lost thanks to your work and love

Skinny

The “skinny” health bill will be voted tonight
Both the Dems and the Reps do agree it’s a mess
It would dis-insure millions; send the costs out of sight
‘Though it’s what they detest, many Reps will vote yes

They have asked for assurance from Speaker, Paul Ryan
To take it to conference where it can be changed
To say Paul’s committed would somewhat be lying
The Senate’s behavior on this is quite strange

The vote will occur in the wee hours of morning
The bill’s actual wording most haven’t yet seen
The realization I hope will be dawning
The Senate’s behavior is truly obscene

Meanwhile the Mooch is Trump’s most recent jester
He’s named as Director of Communications
Drunk now with new power all Trump staff he pesters
He’s foul mouthed, uncouth enough for nomination

There’s more going on with Jeff Sessions and Mueller
Trump keeps on discrediting the FBI
He knows that they’ll find him out later or sooner
But that’s for another poem; for now goodbye

Trump Stuff

The Senate down-voted a bill to repeal
Without a replacement for Obama Care
Along with eight others McCain voted nay
In line with his lecture on sense yesterday
Next up is the “skinny bill”, how it will fare
Perhaps by tomorrow we’ll know if it’s real

Trump tweeted a bombshell with lack of much thought
To ban all transgenders from serving our forces
He blindsided everyone with his announcement
His generals, advisors knew not his pronouncement
Military transgenders are major resources
And many were killed in the battles they fought

Pres. Trump keeps on tweeting against his AG
To publicly shame him so he would resign
So far Sessions’ staying, ignoring Trump’s jibes
He has Senate backing but Trump still may try
To oust him directly, a panicking sign
Of deep desperation, what Mueller might see

Trump’s guilty behavior on Russian affairs
Are signs he is hiding some terrible deeds
Concerning the Russians and Trump’s family
It must be so toxic that no one must see
The real evidence lest they truly take heed
And impeach Donald Trump, something he could not bear

A prophet I’m not; nor the future predict
But as the noose tightens, the walls closing in
Trump will see the hand writing and offer a deal
That Mueller stay secret and nothing reveal
And Trump, in return, in protection of kin
Will his term terminate; from this office he’d quit

Repeal and Replace

Thanks to McCain who flew back to D.C.
While recovering from recent brain surgery
The procedural vote passed, thus allowing debate
On a few health-care bills and Obama Care’s fate

So, while I am writing the Senate is casting
Its yeas and its nays while the public keeps asking
And pleading their senators not to repeal
And replace ACA with some sham of a bill

By tomorrow some time we are likely know
The outcome of all this, if it passed, yes or no
In the mean time keep calling your senator’s place
To keep up the pressure and maintain the pace

On the Russian front Trump keeps berating Jeff Sessions’
Obeying the law, which has gone out of fashion,
By recusing himself, leaving Trump unprotected
From investigations where Trump is suspected

But Trump keeps on claiming he’s done nothing wrong
It’s fake news, a witch hunt; it doesn’t belong
So, Trump, if you’ve really got nothing to hide,
Why, then, are you hiding stuff deep down inside?
