In Need of a Savior

Two subjects I’ve recently written about
I’ve got more to say that my mind’s working out
Involving the shutdown, involving some views
On FBI’s counterintelligence news

The shutdown’s solution seems further away
It’s pain is out spreading each day after day
The blame game is vacuous; neither side wins
Though people are hurting both sides have dug in

And into this maelstrom of negative news
The Times had reported that Trump’s been accused
Of being an agent of Russia, no less
By FBI counterintelligence men

The fact that our President could be suspected
An enemy agent is unprecedented
And should raise alarm bells all throughout the nation
So far it’s been met not with strong indignation

But scorn for the person who leaked all the data
By Senate Republicans shielding Trump’s status
But even more worrisome throughout this land
No strong demonstrations of where people stand

They are so caught up in the shutdown’s full impact
And numb to Trump’s misdeeds, distortions of true facts
The normalization of Trump’s misbehaviors
Democracy may be in need of a savior

Breaking News

News breaking tonight by the Times of New York
Reporting on something we early suspected
The FBI opened as part of their work
An investigation of Trump as reflected

By Trump’s strange behavior: the Comey dismissal
Plus other strange actions with Russian involvement
A counter-intelligence probe made official
Back then, against Trump, Putin’s puppet apparent

M. Nance had concluded this two years ago
His book on democracy, Putin’s big plot
To cause our destruction, a war of info
With Trump as their agent. They liked what they got

But now that Trump’s agency cover is blown
His value’s diminished, his usefulness gone
Vlad Putin will drop him as Trump is undone
It’s my estimation he’ll not carry on

Misery

As misery spreads everywhere in the nation,
As payday is empty, a dire situation
Trump threatens declaring a state of emergency
To get his wall built even though there’s no urgency

But Trump could care less if a wall is a go
He’s had opportunities answering no
What Trump wants is conflict with him at its core
A chance to blame Democrats ever the more

But people are worried and soon will be desperate
Which may cause behaviors becoming intemperate
But that’s not Trump’s worry; he thinks not of them
His face he will lose if he yields to the Dems.

But Nancy and Chuck can’t let Trump have his way
Or he’d shut down the government any old day
It would be his leverage to get what he wants
To hell with the people as power he flaunts

The key to achieving a true resolution
Resides with McConnell; he is the solution
The Dem’s legislation to open the gov.
Could pass overriding Trump’s veto above

But Mitch is still fuming from Trump’s turn about
Saying he’d sign the bill, then he backed out
So let the Trump stew o’er events of his making
And Mitch will eschew action he could be taking

Before not so long pain will grow to unbearable
Reps. In the Senate will feel pressure terrible
And on Mitch McConnell they’ll finally prevail
To open the government, and they won’t fail

Danger

Everyone knows that The Trump is unfit
To lead this great nation, Commander-in-Chief
He’s not just unfit but a danger to whit
Should a valid emergency bring untold grief

So, what’s to be done, what’s the Congress to do?
To the New Democrats quick impeachment’s the goal
But that won’t yet work; Senate won’t follow through
With a conviction although that’s their role

The senior Dem. leadership understands this
They’ll wait for Bob Mueller, they’re not in a hurry
But that may take time; time that will not exist
When clear danger’s present. That, then, is the worry

It’s also not certain that Mueller’s report
Will be, thus, transparent revealing the facts
A Donald Indictment would land in the courts
It’s not the solution most Democrats back

House’s Intel Committee, Judicial as well
Intend to be active in probing Trump’s actions
With transparent hearings like Trump show and tell
Informing true facts to Republican factions

When Senate Republicans start to break ranks
It’s then that impeachment could likely succeed
In ousting The Trump as his ratings all tank
Not easy, but what our democracy needs

Two Things

Two things on my mind, ‘though they are unrelated
One is more evidence Trump’s Putin’s lackey
Statements he’s made that at first appear whacky
The second’s the shutdown, a view not yet stated

Belarus may get a Polish invasion
Montenegro in NATO will cause World-War Three
The Afghan invasion, a Russian occasion
Was justified keeping them terrorist free

All Putin pronouncements, all fully untrue
All echoed by Trump seeming out of the blue
R. Maddow concluded that Trump has a pipeline
To Putin from whom he gets orders in kind

The shutdown’s a tragedy Trump manufactured
Of course he could end it but vowed that he wouldn’t
Because of great danger, he feels that he shouldn’t
It is Trump’s world fantasy, factually fractured

However, the power to open gov’s closings
Resides with McConnell who’s been in seclusion
He’s waiting for Trump since he doesn’t like losing
And Trump can’t be trusted to maintain conclusions

But Mitch could submit the House bill for a vote
And gain the votes needed but clearly he won’t
There’re quite enough votes there a veto to better
But Mitch won’t submit it, a win he won’t let her

The “her” is Pelosi, the Demo’s new Speaker
Most competent person that office to hold
Her strength, people power; her outlook is bold
Mitch views her a threat, more constrained he must keep her

But in my opinion McConnell will cave
As pressure increases within Senate’s ranks
Trump, too, will back down trying his face to save
When all’s said and done there’ll be no one to thank

Happy New Year

The New Year’s upon us and what will it bring
Regarding political new happenings?
How will the Democrats wield their new powers
And how will the Trump answer high in Trump Towers?

Nancy’s adept doing multiple tasking
Committees of oversight hard questions asking
Passing strong measures in new legislation
And standing her ground firm without hesitation

Trump is a coward, a bully at heart
He’ll fume and he’ll threaten play acting his part
But shove come to push Donald Trump will give in
And lie to his base thereby claiming a win

Expect a report coming late in the Spring
As drafted by Mueller detailing the things
He found about Trump and his offspring as well
High crimes, misdemeanors, the story he’ll tell

Impeachment proceedings will have to take place
It’s something House leadership will have to face
And what will the Senate do? That’s the big question
McConnell’s response, what will be his intention?

I expect Mitch will focus to get judges seated
Ignoring most else knowing they’ll be defeated
But pressure from Dems passing good legislation
That coupled with Mueller’s confirmed revelations

Will weaken Republican’s score at the polls
And force them to drop Trump like dropping hot coals
All this is conjecture based on premonition
To All Happy New Year and joy, this occasion

The Danger Zone

The inevitable happening didn’t take long
Some two years, or so, from inauguration
It’s what one expects when elections go wrong
Electing a charlatan to lead the nation

Up until recently most of Trump’s antics
Although disappointing and harmful in ways
We’re not so egregious to cause one to panic
And could, after Trump, be repaired in those days

But now with the legal walls closing in tighter
His closest indicted companions have squealed
The stock market’s reeling as Fed moves rates higher
And Nancy and Chuck showed they knew how to deal

So now we have entered the real danger zone
Where reckless decisions cause damage irreparable
Where key people quit, citing what Trump has done
And our allies withdraw from bonds once thought inseparable

The government’s down for Trump’s wall on the border
Five billion or bubcas, gov funding won’t flow
Trump’s stubborn position cheered on by supporters
How long this will last, truly nobody knows

Trump ordered our Syria troops to come home
Leaving our partners, the Kurds in the lurch
And in opposition to what experts know
Based on advice from the head of the Turks

The world sees the Trump losing power and weak
A signal for enemies to take advantage
Expect to see havoc that Trump will yet wreak
This danger zone we’ll have to learn how to manage

All In A Day

Trump’s Sec Def Jim Mattis in protest resigned
In protest of Trump’s foreign policy place
Spelled out in his letter to Trump that he signed
And delivered to Trump when they met face to face

In two months, or so, he will exit his cell
The last of the grownups to keep Trump in check
And how many generals will exit as well
All rather than staying aboard Trump’s train wreck?

There’s rumor that Mueller’s probes will be completed
In two to three months with a final report
Which, the AG decides how it is to be treated
Who reads it, who doesn’t, what parts to abort

William P. Barr is Trump’s pick for AG
Who once under Bush briefly held that position
He questioned Bob Mueller’s legitimacy
In a memo he meant for Trump’s consideration

It was unsolicited, kept under wraps
Barr’s job application to be next AG
It made Barr Trump’s choice who was perfect, perhaps
Except Mueller’s probes, Barr’s recusal must be

On again, off again gone again Wall
Funding five billion the Senate won’t give
A government shutdown will likely befall
The nation tomorrow as Trump’s Christmas gift

As well as the stock market falling away
It’s entered a region familiar to bears
Affecting all you who have 401k’s
Trump’s negative bonus to add Christmas cheer

My Message

A correction I offer of the last poelitic
Seventeen and not five are the probes of Trump’s team
The five are Trump entities, to be specific
All targets of probes, all unlawful it seems

So much new as news that it’s hard to keep track
There won’t be a government shutdown this week
Trump tweeted our Syria-based troops to bring back
Trump’s wall on the border went down to defeat

There’s really much more but my subject today
Is the equities market, what might be in store
As you know the Bull rally: nine years and some days
And then it turned volatile more than before

An index I follow is called SPX
It’s Standard and Poor’s diverse five hundred stocks
Indicative of the whole market complex
It leads the economy several-month blocks

On September twenty a new high that day
Some labeled this Bull trend a bubble extreme
Brought on by the Feds and Trump’s tax giveaway
Since then it’s been downhill, no stopping, it seems

Investors are nervous, will this bubble burst?
And when will that happen, next month or next year?
They hope for the best but they plan for the worst
And that is my message; defense time is here

A Challenge

A challenge, my dear reader, I am casting out your way
On political predictions for next year
I am interested dearly over what you have to say
In replying to the questions listed here

You can answer me by Email or by comment on the blog
Answer serious or funny as you please
And as I receive your comments I will place them in a log
After New Year them I’ll post for all to see

Investigations criminal, some five so far exist
On entities and people Trump controls
When they produce Indictments, what will Trump do to resist
Especially when his family is their goal?

The Mueller probe some time next year most likely will conclude
With evidence on solid grounds of crimes
That Trump, himself, committed, which he’ll certainly refute
Will Congress, thus, impeach him at that time?

That question presupposes Mueller will remain in place
That Trump won’t have Bob Mueller nullified
But if Trump thus succeeds, the probe’s report as such erased
How would the people, Congress then reply?

Although the Dow Jones has been shaky, highly volatile
Most think that the economy’s the tops
But there’s a finite chance, next year, in not too great a while
For this Bull trend to turn around and drop

And if that were to happen, what, then, would be Trump’s response
And what would Congress do to stem the flow?
So many questions more to pose for next year and beyond
But that’s enough for now. Please let me know
