Kompromat

Kompromat

All eyes are on Donald
Highlighted by Mueller
The dastardly things he has done
To spur his supporters
And capture reporters
But at Putin’s bidding he runs

It may be financial
A hotel in Moscow
Or wenches nude wetting his cot
Whatever the venue
His deeds clearly point to
It’s likely that he’s kompromat

Hello Mitch McConnell
Your actions, like Donald,
Refusing to floor certain bills
That would give protection
‘Gainst hacking election –
Stored data; as try, Russia will

It means that you welcome
The Soviet Union
It’s efforts to sway our elections
By aiding Trump’s victory
You’ll win yours handily
Reversing most all expectations

But, Mitch, that’s like treason
A self-serving reason
And different from Donald you’re not
Although indirectly
But not incorrectly
You’ve also become kompromat

Special Counsel Hearings

At Eight thirty AM at the crack of the gavel
The hearings begin. “What hearings?” You ask
“I’ve been deaf on the news
Can’t abide wayward views
Makes me want to take Congressmen rightly to task!”
It’s Judiciary’s hearings of the Special Counsel

“The Mueller Report – said there was no collusion
And gave Trump a pass when it came to obstruction.
The report was quite long
And it found nothing wrong
Seems a waste to have spent all that time asking questions
And not, then, be able to reach some conclusions!”

That’s pretty much what Mister Everyman thinks
What Trump and Bill Barr want us all to believe
The Report has the proof
That that isn’t the truth
There is evidence plenty; Trump gets no reprieve
It’s there, black and white, bringing House to the brink

Of impeachment proceedings against Donald Trump.
To do so successfully views must be primed
Where each man’s opinion
Must clearly envision
That Trump has committed felonious crimes
Enough to impeach him, through hoops make him jump

And that’s where the Hearings come onto the scene
The plan is for Mueller to narrate his story
Since people won’t read it,
Perhaps, they’ll more heed it
By hearing it’s author recount details gory
They’ll get the full import of what it all means

But I have my doubts it will make any difference
Since Mueller is reticent making appearance
It comes on a Wednesday
For most it’s a workday
At best they’ll hear sound bites of juicy occurrences
And no on Impeachment, with Nancy in deference

Racism

Let’s talk about racism, subject de jour
Trump’s tweets against four Congress women of color
“Go back where you came from.” we’ve most heard before
Is racist in essence, which labels its source

But that’s nothing new, from the first we all knew
That Trump is a racist, has been most his days
The point is it works for Trump, he knows it too
One third of the country approves what he says

Before we pass judgement from our moral heights
We, most, have experienced prejudice raw
Against us and by us while journeying life
The stranger’s not trusted; it is tribal law

Skin color, one’s language, sex preference, you name it
It’s perfectly human; ‘twas there from the start
On our evolution on Earth you can blame it
Fear of the foreign is pumped by our heart

But what sets this country apart from the rest
Officially, we welcome diversity
The source of our strength; helping us be the best
But assimilation brings adversity

Racism most of the country opposes
When publicly wielded by our President
And rightfully so, all the hate it discloses,
But Trump is not setting some new precedent

Our history’s replete with those periods of time
When most immigration was brought to a halt
And with xenophobia sentiment prime
Fearing the stranger, his difference at fault

So we must campaign for enhanced immigration
For welcoming foreigners and those oppressed
To be a bright beacon to all other nations
It’s through immigration our country is blessed

Means And Ends

I write of the census, Trump’s latest kerfuffle
And how our top court seemed to give him the shuffle
Trump’s purpose was evident clearly to all
Suppress the brown count, their replies to forestall

By adding a question on citizenship
To scare the illegals, their forms not send in
But Trump and his lawyers made up other reasons
And lied to the court, in itself gross malfeasance

The left-leaning justices all voted no
The right-leaning justices most voted go
Except the Chief Justice who clearly switched sides
And faulted Trump’s reasons as being contrived

Though Trump was defeated for spoofing the court,
Four justices, knowing he lied, voted for it
That illustrates those of our court most supreme
Are willing for ends to trump dishonest means

A Few Thoughts

I recently finished a book most revealing
That captures Trump’s staffers and how they are feeling
Concerning their boss, what they whisper behind
While doggedly doing Trump’s bidding in kind

Mike Wolf is the author and Siege is the book
In detail with references Wolf’s writing looks
At a year’s major happenings like you were there
I do recommend it, the time’s worth the fare

The dominant dramas in play in the news
Are Epstein’s indictment and children abuse
Jeff Epstein for trafficking girls of young ages
And CBP’s treatment of children in cages

Although their conditions have been documented
Pres. Trump calls it fake news what’s been represented
By visiting Congressmen’s horrid renditions –
While nothing gets done to improve those conditions

Alexander Acosta, Trump’s Labor Secretary
Was AG in Florida when Epstein was very
Involved with sex trafficking under-age females
Indicted in 2008, sordid details

Acosta let Epstein off easy by far
Though evidence warranted life behind bars
So Epstein continued his sexual exploits
On up to this latest indictment, adroit

Then, why did Acosta let Epstein off easy?
Who dictated terms to Acosta, so sleazy?
I doubt he’ll remain Secretary much longer
Bad media image that Trump cannot suffer

The Trump of July

The Fourth of July, independence from kings
Independence from dictators having their way
Celebration of liberty, freedom shall ring
As the soul of our nation, July Fourth, today

But that’s not the message from President Trump
It’s his to usurp so to celebrate self
Trump must be at center like out on the stump
As would-be dictator, all else he must quell

It isn’t sufficient to have a parade
With floats patriotic and bands from our schools
It must showcase might; other nations persuade
That troops, tanks, and planes are how Trump wants to rule

Although our armed forces are second to none,
All honor to those who have fought, who have died
Protecting the values uniting as one
This nation of immigrants all true and tried

It’s our Constitution, our laws and our norms
Our proud institutions, traditions, our ways
We celebrate these that our nation was born
And not Trump’s hijacking of this holiday

Evil At The Border

If you haven’t seen the horrendous film clips
Of children all soiled and hungry, afraid
Of men packed in standing room only for weeks
Of women unbathed, unattended, half dead

Just turn on TV, it’s all over the news
Congressional Democrats there at the border
Seeking out truth and then airing their views
The evil occurring there based on Trump’s orders

Top ranking officials at Homeland Security
Claim it’s not so, it is all an illusion
But the IG of DHS witnessed assuredly
All what was happening: chaos, confusion

The sights there reminded me: thirties in Germany
Camp victims treated as sub human garbage
These days will be labeled as Trump’s days of infamy
They’ll travel through history as part of Trump’s badge

First Debate

Kamala Harris has won the debate
According to pundits opining their views
Joe Biden she chose to accuse and berate
Recalling some forty-year old piece of news

It was about bussing school children to class
The blacks to white schools and the white kids to black
The issue: should government govern the task
Or should local districts choose their way in fact

Joe Biden was for local district control
To choose how and whether cross bussing would work
And he was opposed to a government role
But Harris ignored that, describing her hurts

Either she knew and she falsely laid blame
Or hadn’t done homework in prep for debate
It served well her purpose, all now know her name
But happy I’m not she laid this on his plate

Now, don’t get me wrong, as of now I will tell
I’m favoring Kamala, Joe Biden too
Although Biden handled it poorly as well
They’ll have opportunities better to do

I believe, over all, that they all came across
Most sincerely, adroitly, what each had to say
If I had to choose now, it’d be a coin toss
But I really was thrilled with the strength there displayed

So What?

Trump has committed sexual assaults, so what?

Trump has been violating the emoluments clause, so what?

Trump keeps separating children from family at the border, so what?

Trump lies and lies about everything, so what?

The border children live under inhumane conditions, so what?

Trump’s reckless lack of policy may cause Iran to war, so what?

Trump’s violates the Constitution time and again, so what?

We, the people, we have lost all care

Each gross intrusion on our sensibilities

Treats such offenses like they were not there

We have developed Trump immunities

Ho Hum, Trump’s great for the economy

Ho, Hum, the GDP is doing fine; we think

Ho Hum, stock market’s in uncharted territory

Ho Hum, 401(k)’s up there in the pink

No rhyme, no reason, Trump’s okay by us

Yeah, Trump’s a crook; that too’s not worth a fuss

We are inured to foibles labeled Trump

It’s we, not Trump; we are the laughing chumps

Trump’s War

We almost went to war last night
Against Iran; our ships, our planes
Were on their way to start the fight
Trump launched the raid in clear disdain

Of Constitution’s prohibition
Not to start a foreign war
Without Congress’s permission
Stating what we’re fighting for

The raid was canceled, minutes on
Trump later claimed; his message passionate,
Since they had downed an unmanned drone
This would be viewed as disproportionate

A war was close; this time averted
But all the problems still remain
Trump can’t be trusted, stay alerted
Or he’ll do it once again
