Semiversary

Today, the semiversary of the insurrection
Where Trump supporters stormed our nation’s Capital
Their goal: to steal the President’s election
It was defeated- blood and death, survivors in the hospital

But then the Lie took root that Donald Trump had really won
And spread like rumors all throughout his base
Republican state legislatures passing laws to have undone
Results of votes they didn’t want to face

So now to be a candidate supported by the R.N.C.
For posts that have a say on our elections
You must admit, if poll results turn out unfavorably
You’d do whatever needed for more favorable selections

On this the semiversary of that fateful day
We see the insurrection still proceeding
Undermining our democracy in legislative ways
And we must act to keep it from succeeding

Cyber Ninjas

Now, Arizona’s new claim to fame
Are the Cyber Ninjas. Yep, that’s their name
At the coliseum, Maricopa County
They set up their task force so to make their bounty

Since the State’s great senators, an august group
Hired them to audit, to dig up the poop
On the voted ballots for the President
Proving they weren’t valid, they were fraudulent

Though the Senate paid the group a healthy sum
They sought out donations from the Trumpians
Most of whom had little; their belief was strong
That back in the White House was where Trump belonged

So they sent their dollars making Ninjas richer
Being con professionals they liked the picture
So they dragged the audit on for months on end
And the more they publicized, the more chumps sent

But what did they do to effect the audit?
What procedure followed that the Senate bought it?
‘‘Twas a deep, dark secret, bamboo shards, purple light
That would find bad ballots by the thousands. Right!

That would prove Trump really won the State’s election
It was stolen from him due to dereliction
Of the State officials who were Democrats
That he’s still the President; that’s where he’s at

Now the audit’s finished; all the work’s been done
They’ll reveal in August that the Trump had won
And in pomp and circumstance he will return
To the White House royally, another term

A Senator I Am

A senator I am, Republican I be
I proudly represent the people of my state
Except those Democrats who didn’t vote for me
Their thoughts toward me I sense are bordering on hate

A bunch of socialist who want to give away
The money that we’re taxed to lazy S.O.B.s
Those low-life browns and blacks who sit around all day
Who think they’re good as whites, and claim equality

But my State Legislature’s passed a bunch of laws
Designed to make it hard for Democrats to win
Suppressing blacks and browns, a truly worthy cause
By drawing Precinct lines based on color of the skin

And in those very Precincts they did all they could do
To make it inconvenient for residents to vote
I think that’s pretty clever. Come twenty, twenty two
We’re sure to take the House. Dem’s chances are remote

Today we filibustered the ‘For The People Act’
The Democrats were trying to kill our legislation
Of course I voted NO. Why wouldn’t I do that?
It’s that or we’d lose power and suffer indignation

Twenty Twenty Two

A plutocratic run autocracy
Where legislatures throughout crimson states
Have voted to outlaw democracy
And are controlled by billionaires. A fate

That’s not beyond the future likelihood
Of trends political, state laws enacted
That so empower states, it’s understood,
To overturn elections, votes redacted

Of course they will be challenged in the courts
A process that could carry on for years
That plus their laws suppressing valid votes
Of Democrats of color that are feared

So what are we to do; what must be done?
We must turn out in millions, demonstrate!
To show our discontent all summer long
And not accept their rulings as our fate

Then for election twenty twenty two
Their counter tactics we must overcome
Turn out to vote in such a multitude
That challenges their claims that say they won

I would expect sheer chaos at the polls
And greater chaos post election night
With neither Party having met their goals
Mistrusting the results, both left and right

Once Trump is Back

What’s happening and what can we expect?
Delusional the President that was
Believing he’s the President that is;
That Biden has usurped the POTUS role
The Presidential mantle Biden stole
His title’s false which no one should respect

And thirty million Trumpers take his word
As gospel, truly everything he says
Their patriotic duty’s to find ways
To put Trump back as Pres. where he belongs
Back in the White House righting Biden’s wrongs
‘Twill soon be time to act; their loins to gird

Trump thinks in August he’ll be reinstated
But what will happen when that won’t take place
A storming of the White House all will face
With weapons blazing clearing Biden out
A full fledged coupe is what they’ll bring about
Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys delegated

One doesn’t have to be a brilliant Einstein
To see where Trump’s delusions likely lead
They’re planning now because they must succeed
Great patriots they are, Trump’s soldiers true
Whatever Trump commands they’re sure to do
Once Trump is back their country will be fine

Five and Thirty

‘‘Twas fifty four to thirty five, the yeas against the nays
You’d think the yeas would have it; right?
But Congress sees a different sight
By them the nays have clearly won
It is the way the Senate runs
They do as Mitch McConnell says

The worst in all our history, Trump’s mob’s reviled attack
Against our nation’s Capital
Their goal was insurrectional
To thwart our core democracy
Replace it with autocracy
Believing Trump’s Big Lie and not the facts

The vote: for an autonomous bipartisan commission
To get the truth on what took place
But truth for some’s too hard to face
Republicans, most voted nay
All hypocrites in what they say
And to the cult of Trump they’re in submission

So what are Democrats to do, a cloture vote needs sixty?
They could outlaw the filibuster
Fifty votes they’d have to muster;
Manchin and Sen. Sinema, however,
Both decline that rule right now to sever
So, five and thirty votes beats four and fifty

Liz Chaney 2

‘Twas last week I said that Liz Chaney was out
Today they made it official
It wasn’t my prescience; there wasn’t a doubt
The Party thought it beneficial
But Liz isn’t quitting
She’s just begun hitting
Those Trump lovers sitting
Supporting Trump’s lies

Today I would say don’t count Liz Chaney out
Today she is freer than ever
To stand her ground wielding her self righteous clout
Embracing her latest endeavor
Her Party to rescue
From Trumpism’s venue
For if it continues
Democracy dies

Liz Chaney

Republican leader, Liz Chaney is out
Her role in the House she’ll no longer reside
And what did she do that has brought this about
She broadcast the truth about Donald’s Big Lie

Now Liz is as right wing as Congressmen get
As old-time Republican policies go
She’s hardly a moderate, that said and yet
They voted her out, though the truth they all know

They fear if they don’t do what Donald Trump says
In spite of the fact that they know he’s despicable
They’d lose reelection the way his game plays
Such fate, to these Congressmen, truly unthinkable

The Party that once was the proud G.O.P.
That once upheld policies rightly conservative
Has lost all its relevance toward bills to be
Its standing diminished on matters deliberative

The Lying Disease

Wildly contagious, the lying disease
Among the Republican Congress throughout
And too, right wing media, lying to please
The Trumplican diehards, to keep them devout

They trump up their fictions deliberately
About what Joe Biden is saying, has said
And, too, the election, felicitously
That Trump was the winner. The Big Lie is fed

And all through the country red states still, we note,
Adhere to the fiction that Trump’s role persists
They’re passing state laws to inhibit the votes.
Of non-white communities where they exist

So where are our loyal opponents of these days
And what is their platform; for what do they stand?
They fabricate issues, false narratives played
And blame them on Biden whom they reprimand

Their efforts are feckless they’re all doomed to fail
On Joe Biden’s programs they can’t lay a glove
They try to besmirch him but to no avail
He’s winning people with truth and with love

Guilty, Guilty, Guilty

May twenty fifth, a year ago
George Floyd had died of over stress
Handcuffed resisting his arrest
Cop, Derek Chauvin said ‘twas so

Like others many times before
His lies were there to be believed
He’d get off free, what he achieved
Another Nigger ain’t no more

Darnellla Frazier witnessing
Of Derek’s knee on George Floyd’s neck
She, on her smart phone did collect
A vid of Chauvin’s murdering

And published it all on Facebook
It changed the course of history’s tide
Caused demonstrations huge, worldwide
While Congress took a deeper look

Today it all came to a head
Court verdict: guilty, all three counts
Relief from overwhelming doubt
Justice served this time, instead

Congrats to all participants
The. lawyers, witnesses, police
George Floyd can finally rest in peace.
In spite of these developments

The racist problem still remains
It’s nurtured through a mother’s milk
With attitudes that cause no guilt
Immune to how a person’s trained

Suggestion: just a simple one,
Along with barring choking holds
For cops whose duty is patrol
Equip with tasers but no guns

Deep prejudices will be there
For some who have policing skills
Reduce the means by which to kill
Then blacks of cops need not beware
