First Day Rhyme and Reason

Today Pres. Trump revealed his wisdom
His first first day as President
He pardoned those convicted of
Attacking cops protecting him

He called them heroes, patriots
While undermining justice, law
This after swearing to uphold
The Constitution, law of land

They will become his private army
Answering to only him
Above the law; to foment fear
In those who would oppose the Trump
Our now and would-be king

In Trump we’ll see democracy’s demise
Already on day one first blows he’s struck
As President, Trump can do anything
The Court ensured that he cannot be touched

Its my intention, lines that are un-rhymed
To mimic Trump’s regime these next four years
But there’ll reason in what e’er he does
To grow in wealth and keep his power strong

Inauguration Day

Today goodbye to decency and actions one can trust
Today hello to gross deceits and power hungry lusts
It is inauguration day
For Trump it’s retribution day
He knows he’ll always get his way
Watch out Liz Chaney! Hide you immigrants illegal, yes
Trump’s out to force you out or jailed. For you there’ll be no rest

Today the Earth is spinning backwards. Yesteryears are here
Today the news becomes fake news; the White House beaming fear
Where mediocracy holds sway
While oligarchs with lust make hay
Until they’re bored and go their way
Four years of chaos, years that might spawn wars
It will be hard surviving Trump, surviving what’s in store

Today you wonder what will be and how affect the ME
Today the future dwells in fog. There’s little one can see
Now Trump’s hell bent rewarding wealth
While slashing funds designed to help
Us little guys – the hand we’re dealt
But it was WE who voted Trump as President
Historical stupidity, it’s clearly evident

Thank You Joe

Thank You, Joe

Fair well to you Joe President
The fifty years that you have spent
Supporting whom you represent
The good you’ve done is evident
We thank you

As President your fair-well speech
Revealed accomplishments you’ve reached
Unparalleled your legacy
But you had so much more to teach
We applaud you

The oligarchy threat is real
The new regime’s intent revealed
Your safety net Trump will repeal
Enriching billionaires, his deal
We hear you

Democracy is in your hands
The dangers you must understand
Against dictators you must band
Or else democracy won’t stand
We honor you

Trump’s News Conference

So what are we in for this coming four years?
More days like today filled with Trump’s empty claims
Like purchasing Greenland or take it by force
Or annexing Canada? Par for the course
‘Twas at his news conference Trump stated these aims
Which never will happen; distractions, it’s clear

He randomly rambled with lie after lie
Making it up as he spoke without end
Hiding intentions, what really he’ll do
Like slash the entitlements, Medicare too
While cutting the taxes for his wealthy friends
A master at duping the press with his lies

So, yes, I expect it chaotic to be
A jumble of info, some true, mostly false
Suppression of real news, what Trump labels fake
News like the times when he’s out on the make
Trump’s actions erratic can raise your heart’s pulse
Let’s hope after four years the country’s still free

Happy 2025

Happy 2025

Happy New Year, that’s the hallowed greeting of this day
Thankful, I could understand, but happy, in what way?
Pleasant New Year is perhaps a better thing to say
Or fruitful, or productive would more meaning there convey

Does it better make you feel that strangers, passersby,.
On this one occasion wish you not be sad or cry
But be happy for a year; let problems pass you by
Perhaps they mean to drink your fill of liquid made from rye

Whatever – New Year’s holiday deserves its phrase unique
For people to acknowledge people; have a phrase to speak
Positive but meaningless, no answer does it seek
So, Happy New Year to you all and have a pleasant week

It’s Elon Musk

It’s Elon Musk
From dawn to dusk
Who causes Congressmen to cuss

He’s got Trump’s ear
Who’s thoughts he’ll steer
Thus causing Congressmen to fear

If they don’t do
And act on cue
Election time he’ll make them lose

Musk’s wealth is huge
He’ll follow through
So Congressmen cannot refuse

A Firehose of Fear

It’s Trump’s MO that has become more clear
On gathering all power to himself
Along with siphoning much of your wealth
By streaming forth a fire hose of fear

It’s Trump’s fear tactics all through his career
That’s powered him to lie, to cheat, to con
And get away with it and carry on
That’s why his nominees are backed by fear

Trump threatens senators that they will lose
When next it’s up for grabs their senate seat
He’ll find whom he believes can surely beat
The senator; the one who Trump will choose

The thing that right-wing senators fear most
Is being primaried by someone further right
They’ll do whatever to avoid that plight
Which gives to Trump the power that he boasts

Trump’s Nominees

You’ve got to give the President Elect a lot of credit
A bit more than a month it’s been since being elected
And yet he’s used his brain; whatever’s left; he gets it
There seem to be less cells than even I suspected

His task – to nominate choice chairmen to his cabinet
To choose among his ever loyal sycophants
And find the ones whose qualities are Trump well met
Who’ll do Trump’s bidding, never saying that they can’t

I know this effort must take lots of energy
But Trump”s succeeded well beyond my expectations
Of all the ones within his pets menagerie
Those qualified the least became his nominations

Dear Senator, Dear Congressman

Dear Senator, dear Congressman Republican you now may be
But every time you’re head your bow to Donald Trump and bend the knee
Because you’re scared of what he’ll do
At Primaries and black-ball you
Your power slowly leaks to Trump
He gathers it from all you chumps
Republican in name you’ll be, but hollow as an empty shell
Your pledge, was that to Donald Trump? Is that your vision of yourself?

Trump’s choices of his nominees for senior governmental slots
Deliberately his sycophants who’ll do his bidding matters not
What’s legal, constitutional
The government un-functional
Is Donald’s goal – so he can be
Dictator – as he he wants to be
But that’s not all; he wants subservience of Congress totally
Dear Senator, dear Congressman it’s up to you to guard democracy

November Six, One AM

It looks like we’re in for a bumpy four years
My prognostications were clearly all wrong
I gave we the people more credit, I fear
Than we all deserved; I was wrong all along

Kamala ran a near perfect campaign
The contrast was obvious there is no doubt
If this was repeated, I’d be there again
Predicting her excellence would soon win out

So what’s with the people that they should so choose
A convict, a felon to be President?
A person who’s spelled out the rights we would lose
We people are blind; clearly, that’s evident

I shudder to think of the world wide impact
On our current allies, on our enemies too
The Mid East, the Ukraine, their weapons held back
And NATO and China; just what will Trump do?

It’s mass deportation and camp concentrations
It’s gross retribution, his enemies list
Large tariffs on imports; rich-favored taxations
On, on I could go, but you follow my gist

I expect that the markets most likely will plunge
Against the uncertainty Trump represents
The world, now, is brave, new; when all’s said and done
So gird for whatever the future portends
