Bar-bry Ellen

In old New York, where greed’s not new
There was a con man dwelling
He’d bilk the poor what was their due
And leave them at him yelling

A business man he claimed to be
But, truth he was not telling
Each venture suffered bankruptcy
He, at a loss, was selling

But then he acted on TV
As boss ‘twas his to hire
An acting business man was he
Got known for “Man, you’re fired”

He gained a loyal following
Who bought lies he was telling
Extremely right, prepared to fight
Dissent all ripe for quelling

With time we witnessed his ascent
Despite corruption smelling
He was elected President

This poem’s for the telling
