There was a ship that sailed on politicking seas
And the name of the ship was the Trumpet Vanity
It had cannons for bluster; lying sheets to be mustered
An incompetent crew; never knew quite what to do
It sailed low with gross corruption
On the politicking seas
Gross corruption on the politicking seas
It would come to a port; blast its laws; thwart its courts
Dismiss the civil crew; wreaking chaos anew
Taking most of its wealth; keeping most for itself
Domination its goal; that’s the story we’re told
Taxing more the poor, no care
Tax breaks for the billionaires
Fun and humor on the politicking seas
We decided enough. Time together to get tough
And to sink the ship called Trumpet Vanity
We confronted the ship’s bow, and with auger drilled holes three
One was truth, one was justice and the third one, it was love
Then it sailed no more the seas
Politicking you and me
From its devastation we were finally free

Dad: I really like this one. Please remind me what poem you based it on.
Love,
Mark
Hi Mark. The song is “The Golden Vanity”.
There was a ship that sailed all on the Lowland Sea
And the name of the ship was the Golden Vanity
(Another line)
Low land, low
And it sailed on the Lowland Sea
I don’t recall much else, but I could look it up.
Love, Dad
