If you’re eighteen and black
And you value your life
I’ve a bit of advice
Ways to cover your back
These are things to do not
So as not to be shot
Don’t go knocking on doors
Don’t go chasing a ball
Don’t drive cars that have flaws
Don’t look rich; don’t look poor
Don’t infract any laws
Don’t in church spend much time
Don’t in banks nor in shops
Don’t go jogging in parks
Don’t by day or when dark
Don’t give cause to the cops
Don’t cause 911 calls
Don’t resist cop arrests
Don’t complain nor protest
Don’t try running away
It might be your last day
Fearful anxieties
Plague our society
When blacks are the ones
Then, the answer is guns
