A lot we’ve learned these past few days
Of things we had back then surmised
About the one-six insurrection
And Trumps willful dereliction
Of his job to quell the rise
Of violence which he could stay
We learned that months of preparation
For a coupe so Trump remains
As President no matter what
Mark Meadows, former Chief of Staff,
Was Trump’s go-fer to get it done
But failed. Ergo the insurrection
‘‘Twas hard for Trump to comprehend
That Governors, Republicans,
Though Trump supporters, he would note,
Refused to cheat in counting votes
Since first they were Americans
Trump’s means weren’t justified by ends
But this has changed. State legislatures
Have passed laws that give them clout
To change the vote-count operations
In red states throughout the nation
So, to toss the winner out
Republicans, reveal their nature
A lot we’ve learned these past few days
Trump’s quest to steal almost succeeded
But for loyal patriots
Who stood their ground which foiled his plot
But in three years, where things are headed
Trump will surely get his way

No time or place for complacency.
Glad to finally see your poems!
As you suggest, there is certainly no place or time for complacency!
