Apologies to Dr. Seuss
I do not like the G O P
I do not like them, what they be
To tell the truth they always lie
Democracy with them will die
Their House, a curse
Their Senate’s worse
I do not like the way they work
State legislatures gone berserk
They legislate to stay in power
Democracy a wilting flower
I kid you not
A core of rot
Toward oligarchy they aspire
Forever them is their desire
I do not like the G O P
With them this country won’t be free
What can we do?
What must we do?
Take to the streets and demonstrate
Denounce the bills they legislate
Make your voice heard. You have the clout
And at the polls vote all them out

I’m Not a Racist
I’m not a racist, but I know that really whites are best
The blacks, you know, the niggers,
They’re barely just above the apes
The Mexicans, they steal, they rape
And Jews? Good God, go figure!
They’re worse than all the rest!
I mean, we really are supreme
It’s in our genes, our nature
We truly are the race most fit
To be on top, king’s throne to sit,
To rule the people of this nation
It’s our goal; it’s not a dream
Trump was our man; he understood
That blacks and browns are gaining ground
They multiply like raunchy hares
Us whites we have to be aware
That to majority they’re bound
They’re up to something no damn good!
And Biden, white, but what an ass!
His cabinet he’s filled with Jews
And chinks and reds and God knows who
And God knows what they’ll try to do
Trump is the rightful ruler, true
I’ll do my worst to bring him back!

A Day of Contrast
The rescue bill’s a done, done deal; it will be signed come Friday
The Dems have breached beyond belief; it is their pie-in-sky day
So popular is this one bill, Republicans embrace it
Except for those in Congress who would all like to erase it
I’m happy for the Everyman and Woman who’ve been struggling
I’m happy for the kids in schools whose learning has been troubling
I’m happy for the children who’ll be lifted out of poverty
So many good things in this bill, it truly is a novelty
Concurrent with my joy I’m saddened by Republicans
Who only know to answer NO to bills I’d deem imperative
They have no platform, things they’re for, ‘cept tax cuts for the wealthy
The way they plan to win elections is by means unhealthy
Unhealthy for democracy, unhealthy for the nation
Red states are passing laws that limit voter registration
And laws that make it hard to vote which target populations
Black and brown, all Democrats. They pass them with elation
They bow to Trump, bereft they are of policies for people
Embracing white supremacy, they dwell in ivory steeples
Pontificating emptily, their oath of office broken
Their tipsy towers are caving in, the GOP’s forsaken

Seventy Six
Seventy six percent, like the loud trombones
That in a grand parade proudly played
It’s the percent of us who do support the bill
To see this epidemic fade
Among Republicans a majority
All do agree they’d love to see it passed
That is except for those in the Senate and the House
Who will vote against the bill en mass
Voting no’s all they know, every where they go
It’s so sad, tis their fad, I wish it wasn’t so
Practically all congressional Republicans
Could care less what their supporters think
Whatever Trump declares they support him out of fear
Now the Grand Old Party’s on the brink
