The Cult of Trump

The cult of Trump, that’s how it’s deemed
Who’s cultists follow what he beams
The tweets and statements that Trump makes
Are Gospel truth; all else is fake

We gaze on them with consternation
Smug in our sophistication
Never would we thus succumb
It takes a special breed of dumb

On faith to feel Trump’s always right
Though facts supporting aren’t in sight
Substantiating what he claims
To some extent we’re much the same

We, each of us, have our beliefs
Unprovable, just based on faith
We’ve sacred items, mysteries
Unique, unproven histories

Euphoric in our certainties
Our vanity of vanities
It’s human nature to believe
It’s easy, thus, to be deceived

Trump’s cultists ‘know’ that they are right
They’re stuck with him; it is their plight
I’ll disagree but won’t denounce them
Some are relatives and friends

We Love to Worry

We Democrats, we love to worry, fear tomorrow will be scary

Trump is wicked, Trump is cruel; he who ignores him is a fool

Up both his sleeves he has his tricks, the claims he’s trying to make stick

That President he still will be; he won it by a landslide, see

His senators all play along, don’t have the guts to say he’s wrong

Trump won’t admit it but he knows come January out he goes

He’ll try to shut the whole gov. down with no one standing left in town

Its budget he will not approve unless he’ll not be forced to move

Despair is driving Trump berserk but none of this is going to work

Joe Biden really knows the score; he’s seen adversity before

Come January’s swearing in, Joe’s Presidency will begin

Obstructions, yes, they’ll surely be there; Biden’s team’s of that aware

They know the West Wing in and out. They know just how to wield their clout

And as Pres. Biden grows in power, Trump and followers will cower

Won’t be easy, will take time; but they’ll succeed, I do opine

So Democrats, I say take heart, Joe’s days in office soon will start

The ADP

The ADP

The GOP, now ADP, the Anti Democratic Party
Yes, against all Democrats, but, too they are against
Democracy itself ignoring their elected duty
Not conceding Biden’s win, by straddling the fence

That Biden will be President, I really have no doubt
He won by margins well beyond the reach of legal cases
Brought by Donald’s lawyers, cases courts have all thrown out
The Trumpian shenanigans aren’t working since they’re baseless

But ascertainment by the GSA has hit a bump
Administrator Murphy has refused to make the call
In violation of the law but hailed by Donald Trump
Thus stymieing transitioning, a danger to us all

The virus raging sans control, a quarter million lives
Are lost, so far. The new-case rate’s in exponential growth
With promising vaccines in months as vaccine research thrives
Since Trump ignores the COVID, vaccination is our hope

Unless transition soon occurs and Biden’s team is briefed
Distributing the vaccine to the nation will take longer
Politically delaying when we each will get relief
With more of us contracting, dying as the plague grows stronger

The virus has struck close to home, a friend who reads these poems,
Her husband caught the virus, early Spring, he wasn’t weak
Then in and out of hospitals and finally at home
He did succumb two days ago; his passing made us weep
Condolence to his widow; fond his memory we’ll keep

November 7, 2020

Today’s, a day to celebrate , Joe Biden, President Elect
And Kamala VP Elect, the blood of Asia and Jamaica
Pulsing in her veins. A cracked glass ceiling finally wrecked
November seven to remember: white wore Harris for the sake of

Women, women everywhere who back-boned Biden’s victory
And guaranteed today would be a day renown in history

The tasks they face, both Joe and Kam, are daunting, just to say the least,
A plague that’s looks beyond control;, depressed economy as well,
Near half the nation voted Trump; Joe’s victory Trump won’t concede
And vows to fight and not give up How this will end, no one can tell

No matter Trump’s shenanigans, Joe will be ready come day one
To issue many exec. orders, things the Trump’s team had undone

The Senate’s still too close to call; a run-off vote next January
If the Dems don’t win those contests, Joe’s agenda will be hard
To get enacted into law. Republicans might well be wary
Of Trump’s remnant party power to destroy them, sans regard

You, our duo, Kam and Joe, an uphill battle you are facing
Though it’s rough you’ve got the stuff. We trust and honor you, a blessing

A New GOP

I’d like to see the GOP return to being grand again
A muse conservative in views, the way it was back sometime when
Facts were accepted, truth respected, not the subject of debate
With problem solving by resolving differences in give and take

That can’t occur if Donald were to win on the election date
Then Trump, no doubt, would wield such clout he’d certainly retaliate
Against the Left and all the rest whose votes weren’t likely cast his way
The GOP, as used to be, would not survive beyond that day

But should Trump lose, real Reps. could choose their Grand Old Party to revive
And o’er succeeding voting seasons cause Trump Reps. to not survive
Those sycophantic Trump-fanatic senators and congressmen
The hypocrites who’d not resist when Trump pulled his shenanigans

To make the party hale and hearty, one deserving of respect
Conservative with views persuasive, concepts one would not neglect
When then debating, sans berating, issues needing to be solved
The GOP would need to be the opposition, loyal all
