Abandoning ship as to chaos it sinks
Each dodging the other as though they all stink
The White House west wingers confused and dismayed
Pres. Trump seething anger, relations all frayed

“Hope Hicks, like a daughter, that’s just how I feel.
“Okay, so she lied for me; what’s the big deal?
“She’s been with me longer than all but my kids
“The fact that she’s leaving puts me on the skids

“And then there’s McMaster; he acts like he knows
“Security more than me. He’s got to go.
“John Kelly, straight-jacketed most of my staff
“That can’t get their clearances, can’t do their craft

“He went after Jared, my bright son-in-law
“You don’t mess with family so John will be gone
“Besides he’s continually cramping my style
“Although I get by him each once in a while

“It’s all Sessions’ fault, not protective of me
“Recusing himself, letting Mueller run free
“Who’s scaring the s—t out of all of my staff
“I’m guilty of nothing! – So, why do you laugh?

Trump made his announcement; the stock market dropped
New tariffs on imports: aluminum, steel
Although aimed at China, the whole world would feel
Its impact, new trade wars and prices that pop

Job losses by thousands as industries leave
A likely recession felt all ‘round the world
However, in my view, it’s not the last word
Trump hasn’t authority for such decrees

Unless for security, Trump has no power
A real act of Congress is duly required
No member of Congress is thusly inspired
To vote such a bill that would cause trade to sour

I’ll make a prediction, though I may be wrong
Trump’s plan will go nowhere, devoured by events
And stocks will rebound full ignoring Trump’s rants
All things will proceed simply moving along
