New Jobs

New jobs, two hundred thousand plus were gained throughout July
And unemployment now at four point three percentage points
The lowest it has been since H-bomb tests lit up the sky
And most stock-market indices are at their all-time highs
That Trump has bragging rights may put you somewhat out of joint
This speaks politically of strength; on polls one can’t rely

And if these numbers persevere and if Trump’s not indicted
He stands a chance in twenty twenty for a second term
But even though our outlook now has marketeers excited
My own prognostication here, though largely unrequited
Is when the market’s bubble bursts, recession will return
In which the Trump would get the blame for being so blind sighted

Trump promised infrastructure and tax cuts that’s not occurred
The gains in the economy have not to do with Trump
But he’ll take credit while he can and bask in every word
And when the market plummets down Trump loudly will be heard
He’ll blame the Democrats and others, you can be assured
But Democrats more likely would succeed in dumping Trump

Grand Jury

Three and twenty citizens comprise a jury, grand
They’ve been empowered by Mueller in his probe of Russia’s hand
In meddling in our elections on the Trump’s behalf
They can subpoena Trump and every member of his staff

When testifying to grand juries, you are by yourself
You’re under oath to tell the truth, no lawyers there to help
And if you by intention lie, you’ll likely end in jail
For Trump ‘twould be a travesty, a test he’d likely fail

Trump’s lying is pathology, he cannot help this bent
The fifth amendment he could take avoiding questions meant
To show his culpability, collusion and much more
But Trump hates being seen as weak. He’d lie as has before

So if there’s something serious Trump’s hiding all along
Some something that’s indictable with consequences strong
His lawyers won’t suggest he risk his family or himself
And tell him best to abdicate, go off with all his wealth

Mike Pence would then be President, a true Republican
It would surprise me not at all if his staff had begun
To source the leaks so damaging to Trump, as President
Which sets the stage for ousting current White House residents

Trump and Putin

Trump signed the bill that rendered sanctions law
Sanctions levied heavily on Russia and Iran
And also North Korea, punishing them ‘cause we can
All focus was on Trump and Putin, what the world saw

Putin showed displeasure by expelling diplomats
Some seven hundred fifty five, the most they’ve ever done
Putin ordered well before Trump’s signing had begun
He aimed his ire at Congress sparing Trump his total wrath

‘Twas Trump’s initial signing of a major legislation
Signed in near seclusion so Vlad Putin wouldn’t see
We’re it any other bill there’d be a celebration
But this, Trump signed against his will in sheer ignominy

Observers all around the world interpret Trump as week
His Party has defied him first on health-care, now on this
John Kelly may some order bring to staff and to Trump’s tweets
But Putin’s hold on Trump is real; we don’t know what it is

May, 2011

I’ve harbored these past months a misconception
About Don Trump’s unusual obsession
With legislating ACA repeal
Not caring what replaced it in the deal
“I’m waiting at my desk with pen in hand.”
He’d even sign it if Repeal was blank

I had assumed the pundits were correct
Trump’s motivation was to have a WIN
But Mitch McConnell really did him in
And those three senators’ decision to defect

Trump didn’t get his WIN, alas, alack
But rather than move on to tax reform
Or infrastructure bills the Dems would back
He’s urging Mitch to buck the rising storm
Against repeal; to vote this one more time
Repeal Obamacare Care, Trump’s goal sublime

Trump does experience bouts of incoherence
His short-term recollections often fail
But one thing Trump remembers is a grievance
He nurtures hurts for years beyond the pale

It dawned on me that, though Trump savors WINs
His reason for demanding Mitch begin
Another voting session on repeal
It was to hurt Obama. He would kill
Obama’s cherished legacy, Obama Care
As retribution for humiliation
Suffered back in twenty-eleven May
Obama to roasted Trump,
The Corespondent’s Dinner, he’d repay

The Charge

To Tennyson apologies
John Kelly tweaked my memories
Of marching into certain death
As chief of staff at Trump’s request
Now his is not to reason why
Yes his is but to do or bye

To Trump a General officer
Is trained to answer, Sir, Yes Sir!
No matter what he sees to do
His loyalty comes shining through
Protect the boss; don’t let him fail
And even if you’ll end in jail

Good luck, John Kelly, there’re no rules
For managing Trump’s ship of fools
And better yet no regs replete
On how to handle Donald’s tweets
Trump’s current staff lacks loyalty
That’s why there are so many leaks

The Press is to the right of Trump
The Press is to the left of Trump
And Mueller’s closing in on Trump
It makes me wonder

Now that you’ve really just begun
You are a Donald’s favored one
But when your useful time is done
He’ll throw you under
