Freedom of the Press

We’re calling on the State militias: round up the illegals
That was the drafted order circulated ’round the Press
Their calls for confirmation by the White House met refusals
Then Spicer claimed their news was false, so causing much distress

It has become a pattern, forced-to-fail, each Press release
When publishing these stories, Spicer claims them as not true
Trump tweeting that the media are the people’s enemies
A campaign aimed to denigrate reporting factual news

Trump’s goal is to diminish public trust in published news
So when disturbing facts relating to his Russian ties
Are published by the New York Times and in the channel views
The public won’t believe them, calling them a pack of lies

Not if, but when that happens, Donald, you’ll scream loud and clear
“Fake news, a ruse; don’t pay attention!. They are all untrue!”
But freedom of the Press is what Americans hold dear
And it will be your downfall, Don, there’s nothing you can do

Rant Conference

On January 17th I wrote a poelitic titled “Kompromat” that discussed former MI6 agent, Christian Steele’s dossier on Trump and Russia.  Steele has since gone into hiding.  Today the Daily Kos published an article “Now We Go Nuclear.  He will die in jail.” that, among other things, quotes some sentences from this dossier.

Rant Conference

Dear Donald Trump we heard you rant and rave
For seventy six minutes full of lies
And contradictions, falsehoods in disguise
As facts, your Presidency so to save

Those “truthful leaks of lying news” will bring you down
Collusion ultimately they’ll reveal
With Russia in some cockamamie deal
To help you win the biggest game in town

The dossier by Christian Steele’s born out
Liaisons with your trusted campaign crew
And Russian agents; all of this you knew
It’s blackmail that this matter is about

You’ve reason to complain and blame the Press
Discrediting them has to be your plan
For when manure starts to hit the fan
Fake news! Fake news! Is what’s left to express

So, Donald, empty rants, delusioned views
Misreading chaos as gears running smooth
All indicate an un denying truth
Your days as Chief Executive are few

Bebe

BaRUCH haBA to Bebe Netanyahu
To these United States we welcome you
Our ties to Israel are deep and strong
We know that you and Trump will get along

The Kushner family’s been your long-time friend
And Steve is strong on politics and trends
His mission: peace, shaLOM, there’s little doubt
Will still remain elusive to work out

The President today admonished you
More settlements would make peace hard to do
He also said two states or even one
Whatever both sides like, it will be done

The Palestinians took arrows too
For nurturing their hatred for the Jews
So, Bebe, pay attention, SImu LEV
On issues such there’s nothing in Trump’s head

And his positions change from day to night
He brags then screws up everything in sight
His casual remarks can spark new rage
And Palestinians new conflicts wage

We Jews of the U.S. want peace as well
That’s fair to Palestine and Israel
But doubts we have that Trump is capable
Of forging peace that’s truly tractable

Investigate

Investigate, investigate,
Don’t let a thing evade your gaze
Republicans wake up, wake up
We’ve had our fill of coverups

You know that Trump is hiding something wrong
Since campaign days, colluding all along
With Russian officers clandestinely
To aid in Trump’s off chance ascendency

Mike Flynn, Trump’s point man, yes, he had to fire
He did Trump’s bidding, making him a liar
Trump, knowing, let the V.P. vouch untruths
He thought to let it pass; ’till there was proof

The F.B.I. has Don Trump in its sights
And others implicated in his plight
Trump’s house of cards is starting to cave in
This is one battle he will never win

A Lot of Dots

A lot of dots are coming into view
On Michael Flynn’s communication woes
His Russian ties and lies are in the news
And resignation calls by friends and foes

We learned that Acting A.G. Sally Yates
Informed the White House sometime late last month
That Russian blackmail likely was Flynn’s fate
But Trump ignored her warnings. Actions? None

Connecting dots, from this what we surmise
Is: Trump knew all along of Flynn’s affair
With Russia dating back to campaign ties
Propelling Trump to win, the facts laid bare

Blackmailing Flynn is just a minor line
Compared to what the Russians have on Trump
While writing we just learned that Flynn resigned
There’re many reasons Flynn had to be dumped

Great Again

Maureen Dowd wrote an Op-Ed  in the NY Times, Sunday Review titled “Trump’s Gold Lining“, which provided the idea for this poelitic.  The article may only be available to NY Times on-line subscribers.

Great Again

For two and twenty days Trump’s been the Chief
He’s made us great in ways beyond belief
But not in ways that Trump was want to do
His picks, E.O.s and lies, to name a few
Of matters Trumpean that’s brought about
A renaissance that is, without a doubt,
A wakening of our democracy
RESIST! PERSIST! they’re shouting from the streets

New life, new zest he’s breathed in causes blue
Like feminism, liberalism, too
Like activism, skepticism new
With protests ’round the world to name a few
Obama Care, real climate change and refugees
The Putin, Trump connection, intel inquiries

New vigor in debates and town-hall meets
New audiences for Spicer’s daily briefs
News media now labeling false news
Alternatives-to-facts no longer true
It’s clear Trump’s actions early in his reign
Has turned America to great again

People Pouring In, Bad

This Poelitic reflects Paul Krugman’s thoughts in a NY Times Op Ed, Feb 1o, 17  as discussed in a Daily Kos article: Krugman on Trump’s Terror Invitation“.  In another Daily Kos article from BuzFeed, it is pointed out that the Russian’s are already interfering in the 2018 elections with false organizations (People’s Party) and PACs (Progressive Priorities, American Priorities)

People Pouring In, Bad

If something happens bad, we should blame him
The judge, that is, and all our Federal courts
It’s easy to imagine how democracy would dim
If a 9/11 happened, To what acts D.T.’d resort

The same as happened earlier to Bush
Trump’s rating score would very likely soar
New powers he’d acquire in his rush
To launch our country in another war

Trump’s taunts and bellicose remarks
To friends and enemies alike
Are signs of weakness which could spark
Some terrorists to launch a strike

That’s just what Trump is hoping for
To justify his rhetoric
That ‘cross our borders in they pour
Those foreigners, those terrorists

Mike Flynn

Tom Price sworn in for H.H.S.; Gestapo raids by I.C.E.
A California damaged Dam; eclipsing of the Moon
Of all that’s relevant tonight to draft my poetry
The bombshell story by the Post on Flynn’s demise so soon

Oh, he’s not gone, at least not yet, he clearly can’t survive
These allegations, if they’re true, and surely there’ll be more
Nine former gov. officials heard the tapes and testified
Of Flynn’s phone message with the Soviet ambassador

December twenty ninth, Obama, President back then
Laid sanctions on the Russians for election interference
That day Flynn told the Russians don’t react, just wait ’till when
Don Trump will be the President negating their appearance

The scoop revealed more vexing news that Flynn was corresponding
Oft times with Russia prior to elections taking place
Collusion with a foreign state’s illegal, notwithstanding
It further throws in doubt the final outcome of the race

Of course the so-called President will lie in his denial
That he knew anything of this; it’s fake news anyway
We’ll see how he might testify, when this case come to trial
And who might Trump select to fill the role of N.S.A.?

Three to Zero

Three to zero was the final ruling of the Court
Trump’s EO banning seven countries entry’ s still on hold
While the legal process judging merit next unfolds
The ruling was political, the President’s retort

Our country’s in great danger, all those aliens pouring in
And no one knows their backgrounds, terrorists they well could be
But terror, when it strikes again, blame Courts, just don’t blame me
America’s security’s at stake, without, within

The judges’ points were clearly put, they boiled down to three:
The Court has the authority to judge EO’s by law
The EO clearly violated the due-process clause
The ban’s intent was to discriminate religiously

Some recommend that Trump redraft the EO carefully
He claims such dire danger that we should the future dread
But Trump in all his ego’d rather fight the courts instead
And lay a predicate of blame on them for what might be

PERSISTENCE

Hey Mitch, what is that you’re saying
While Liz Warren speaks her thing?
An old letter she’s reciting
Written by Loretta King

Stating facts about Jeff Sessions
On this point she didn’t budge
Telling why, in her opinion
He’s unfit to be a judge

Warren’s point in letter reading:
Session’s steeped in bigotry
Voting records are revealing
He’s unfit to be AG

Mitch McConnell couldn’t bear it
That a woman strongly speaks
Wouldn’t let the Senate hear it
Forced Sen. Warren to her seat

Mitch then publicly declared
She was warned but she persisted
Reading more and more she dared
Couldn’t stand that she resisted

Four more Senators responded
Reading from Loretta’s letter
Not a word from Mitch McConnell
Men are free to speak unfettered

In the end Jeff was confirmed
Attorney General, but RESISTANCE
Gathered strength, events that turned
To rally ’round the word, PERSISTENCE
