The Raven

Once, my life was bright and cheery
Not so now, my eyes are bleary
Reading sheafs of legal briefs
Most of which I’ve read before
Napping ‘gainst the closet door

While I sat there nearly napping
Law books scattered o’er the floor
Shadows started window dancing
I heard ravens’ wings all flapping
Plus commotion out my door

‘Tis the wind and nothing more

Soon the sounds raised to a clatter
Had to see just what’s the matter

I, astounded, my heart pounded
MAGA mob outside my door
Judge we hate you;
We beseech you
Change your rulings from before
If you won’t then we’ll impeach you
You will be a judge no more

Though they scared me with their raving
No intention I for caving
All my rulings based on law and precedent

Their behavior is the climate we are in
If we don’t our judgments alter
MAGA’s efforts sure will falter
In the long run they will lose; and we will win

Bar-bry Ellen

In old New York, where greed’s not new
There was a con man dwelling
He’d bilk the poor what was their due
And leave them at him yelling

A business man he claimed to be
But, truth he was not telling
Each venture suffered bankruptcy
He, at a loss, was selling

But then he acted on TV
As boss ‘twas his to hire
An acting business man was he
Got known for “Man, you’re fired”

He gained a loyal following
Who bought lies he was telling
Extremely right, prepared to fight
Dissent all ripe for quelling

With time we witnessed his ascent
Despite corruption smelling
He was elected President

This poem’s for the telling

The Sloop John B

We’re here on the sloop Don T
My coconspirators and me
In the Face of Scorn we did roam
In the cusp of the night
We fomented a fight
Fighting for rights, right there on the Sloop Don T

Captured ship, sheets and sails
Sent it’s crew off to jail
Then set sail o’er the Sea of Graft and Greed
Policies depriving people; starving people deep in need
Turmoil, turbulence and chaos were its deeds

The above was my vision, in a dream I’m in prison
And the country was a full dictatorship
I am moved to retell it, hoping we will repel it
Sink the ship my dream had named The Sloop Don T

I’m So Pretty

I’m so wealthy, oh so wealthy; I’m as wealthy as one can be
See the wealthy man in the mirror there
Who could such a wealthy man be?
He’s the richest man on the planet now
Richer than a man aught to be
It’s an open secret; can not tell you how
But earth’s most wealthy man – is me!

I’m indifferent, apathetic, apathetic as one can be
I’m an apath 1. I could care less
The affects I’ve had on all the lives I’ve touched
What the mirror tells me is that I cause pain too much

Who’s the apath? Who’s the apath?
Who’s the apath I see on TV?
Nonchalant while firing civil workers – that’s me

People seek me. People tweak me.
People looking for favor that I might bestow
They care not of the grief, they’re aware I sow
I am the wealthiest man  they’ll ever know

That is reason enough to ignore my faults
But, kissing lets them enter the richest vaults
But since I’m apathetic, really I don’t care
My money draws like honey draws a hungry bear

I’m so wealthy, apathetic,
But I have an active, central goal for which I care
Along with being wealthiest, to be the one most powerful
Of people in the world!

1  I’ve coined the word, apath, as the noun form of the word, apathy

  1. It’s all about Power. It’s unbelievable how much damage one human being can cause-when he’s unchecked. With all that wealth, what good could have been done…

The Golden Vanity

There was a ship that sailed on politicking seas
And the name of the ship was the Trumpet Vanity
It had cannons for bluster; lying sheets to be mustered
An incompetent crew; never knew quite what to do

It sailed low with gross corruption
On the politicking seas
Gross corruption on the politicking seas

It would come to a port; blast its laws; thwart its courts
Dismiss the civil crew; wreaking chaos anew
Taking most of its wealth; keeping most for itself
Domination its goal; that’s the story we’re told

Taxing more the poor, no care
Tax breaks for the billionaires
Fun and humor on the politicking seas

We decided enough. Time together to get tough
And to sink the ship called Trumpet Vanity
We confronted the ship’s bow, and with auger drilled holes three
One was truth, one was justice and the third one, it was love

Then it sailed no more the seas
Politicking you and me
From its devastation we were finally free

    1. Hi Mark. The song is “The Golden Vanity”.
There was a ship that sailed all on the Lowland Sea
And the name of the ship was the Golden Vanity
      (Another line)
      Low land, low
And it sailed on the Lowland Sea

I don’t recall much else, but I could look it up.

      Love, Dad

Al Jolson’s Swanee

Donee – I don’t hate you, I don’t hate you
I just deplore you
On this, my two and ninety years day
You’ve buoyed my spirits, thanks, I say

Donee – you’re the greatest, you’re the greatest
Con man and fibber
So take due pride in what you’ve done
Cowed Reps, while having lots of fun

Donee – look the north, and look the south
Most everywhere you gaze
You’ll see your Reps, fear in their eyes
Of Donee’s sure and sharp reprise

Donee – you’ll not make it, you’ll not make it
You’ll not defeat us
We’ll band together, fight for what’s right
And win; no matter Donee’s might

Summertime

Summertime and the living ain’t easy
Pres. Trump is rich and he once was good looking
Tax breaks for rich while your money goes bye bye
So, hush you dissenters; don’t you cry

Summertime, it’s the time to be lazy
You’re saturated, saturated with views
Turn TV off. No attention pay crazies
Let sun, sand, and sea be your source of the news

Summertime, let the world find it’s way
I know it’s good to have marched everyone
So, take a break, even more than a day
But not too long, lest you miss all the fun

From Darlin’ Cory

Wake up! Wake up! I mean you, the people
Why do you sleep so sound?
Pres. Trump’s officers is a comin’
Gonna take your government down

Each time I hear Trump recite the score
I turn both hearing aids off
He just tells us facts as he makes them up
With the truth all over the floor

Hey people, people what you gonna do?
Go back to sleep while Trump takes over everything?
Corruption Inc. Trump has become, relieving you your money
Democracy can be restored; it’s really up to you

The joy of joining others working toward its restoration
The satisfaction that you’ll feel with positive results
I’d start with “Indivisible” to tell you what’s available
Wake up and join, elated you, for your participation

The New AF1

Depressed? Take new AF1 for a lift
No, not those made here, although they are the best,
The no-strings-attached, hand-me-down Qatari gift
Their sky-castle-two gracing skies of the west

Just like a babyTrump’s down on his knees
To be like an Amir, and fly the world’s skies
I must have that airplane! Oh please Congress PLEASE
And if I don’t get it, I surely will cry

Some 400 million they say is its price
Gifted they say, since unable to sell
But Donald will take it since that is his vice
And fly like an Amir. It’s his show-and-tell

Responses

I did receive responses from you, almost every one
Responding to my poem named Apology
They were supportive of the message I’d begun
Defeating Trump’s dictatorship, make high priority

If this is not among your things to do
And you’re not open to what e’er I say
Then, what I have to say is not for you
You further need not read. Go on your way

In prior Poelitics poems I described
The nature of dictatorships in my experience
And of my goal to help them peacefully to die
My question: what approach would do this best?

One Reader felt I was too negative in judgments
That they would only make the matter worse
I say to Reader offer an approach toward what you meant
The devil’s in the details, truth, of course

The same I ask of all of you, what do you think would work?
So far it’s demonstrations, people marching by the thousands
That worked the best in countering some edicts Trump put forth
It must be done for case by case just knowing where Trump stands

For you who do participate I welcome to the fight
Be ready for the long haul; do as much as you are able
Most every effort counts converting darkness into light
And thanks for your support; it buoys me to a higher level
